Dear
Friends and Partners,
Rose Annette excitedly stood in line with all the other boys and girls. It was the annual Sunday school Christmas party and she was waiting her turn to see Santa. Helpers had strategically placed five-year-old Rose Annette at the end of the line. You see, the man in the red suit was her father and they wanted to insure that few children were around for her turn just in case she should start questioning. Finally it was her turn. She gleefully jumped into Santa's lap, ready to recite her carefully prepared mental list of requests for Christmas.
"And what would you like for Christmas, Rose Annette?" the carefully disguised voice queried.
Glancing down at Santa's arms around her, she began, "Well, I'd like—hey, you're my Daddy!"
A nearby helper quickly assured her, "Sweetie, this is Santa. Your Daddy doesn't wear a red suit."
With a louder reply, she emphatically stated, "This is my Daddy!" as the children's heads began to turn that direction.
"Shhh! Now what is it you would like for Christmas?"
Not to be silenced, she loudly proclaimed, "I know my Daddy's hands! And you are my Daddy!" Do you know your Daddy's hands—the ones with the nail prints? Do you recognize His touch in your life? As we celebrate the Birthday of Jesus I pray that it will be more than a celebration, but that you will intimately know your Heavenly Father's Hands. Is your heart obedient to do and to be all that He wants you to be to fulfill His purpose in this short life?
One week ago today, our neighbor Loree, a single parent, took her eleven-year-old son to the movies. After the movie her son stopped in the restroom while she waited in the lobby. Moments later Christopher returned to find a group of people gathered around his mother who was lying on the floor. A blood clot had traveled to Loree's heart. She was gone. At the age of 37 her life here had ended. Today Christopher is without a Mom or Dad. I deeply regret that. But even more, I regret that I didn't talk to Loree about the hands of Jesus. Oh sure, I invited her to church--but that never happened and I never talked to her about Jesus.
The Jesus Film Harvest Partner ministry is telling people around the world about the hands of Jesus and the hope of life after our time on earth. The prayers and support which you have made to the ministry make that possible. Over 500 Jesus Film team members on 254 teams around the globe are showing a movie which is based on the story of Jesus as told in the book of Luke. The Loree's and Christopher's of the world are seeing what the nail prints in the hands of Jesus really mean.
