e-Letter from Chuck - Jesus' Cleansing Blood

Dear Friend and Partner,

Last Friday I heard seven-year-old Victoria screaming as she ran from her bedroom down the stairs. I raced to the living room only to see blood gushing from her head. My wife, Vickie, quickly loaded her in the van with our son Sterling trying to stop the bleeding as they headed to the Emergency Room. Moments before, Victoria and her sister had been sitting on their bedroom floor engrossed in a library book about puppies. When she jumped up to get to a brush, her head met the bottom corner of the opened dresser door. The door remained firm--her head did not. Even though the gash was 1/4 inch deep, it was only 1/4 inch long. Several hours later she was home and healing quickly.

Many times this week as I have prayed, I have thought about the gashes in Jesus' head with the thorns poking in from all sides--the amount of blood can only be imagined. And when I think that He did this for my sins, I am overpowered with unworthiness, love, and compassion that Jesus gave His blood for me to forgive my sins.

I learned after my daughter's accident that head injuries bleed the worst. Again, that makes me consider what Jesus did on the cross for me. I'm overwhelmed that He loves me that much. Now I understand so much more about our loving heavenly Father who gave His Son's blood for me.

Understanding who we are in Jesus and keeping ourselves at the foot of the cross took on a whole new meaning this week when I experienced my daughter's head gushing blood. I will never be the same.
