Dear Friends & Partners,
Last Friday morning--large USA city--airport ticket counter--four hour
flight--a familiar place for me these days. I was standing by, hoping for a
seat on an earlier flight home. The preassigned seat on my original flight was my usual request--exit row. The extra leg room is always welcome.
The agent called my name, signaling that there was an empty seat available on the earlier flight. "Yes! Thank you, Lord!" It was the only seat left.
Gratefulness! It was a center seat in coach, not the exit row, not even an
aisle or window seat. Grumbling!
Well, I was grateful just to get a seat, yet I found myself grumbling under my breath as the agent handed me my boarding pass. Soon the Holy Spirit checked my attitude and reminded me that I should always be grateful.
Remember, "giving thanks in all things?"
But I had gotten up early to catch this flight after a very good but very
late evening meeting the previous night. My plan--a little nap on the way
home. God's plan--oh yes, God's plan. He frequently schedules divine
encounters for me on airplanes.
I had to pray again and ask forgiveness for my attitude. As I settled into
my "cozy" center seat, two men joined me, one on either side. We exchanged
introductions and pleasantries which led into a four hour divinely appointed conversation with the man in the window seat.
He held a high position in a large corporation. At that moment in his life, the "window seat" man was so open to God and His direction. He allowed me to pray with him just as the plane was landing.
In the JESUS Film ministry, there are thousands of divine encounters for
the people around the world who see JESUS for the first time. For every $1
invested there are three evangelistic contacts; for every $3 invested one
person makes a decision for Christ.
Based on total decisions made from the
first showings of the JESUS Film, we now know the following information:
- Average number of decisions per day is: 2,033
- Average number of decisions per hour is: 84
- Average number of decisions per minute is: 1.5 (actual is 1.41 for you math people!)
If I had insisted on my plan last Friday, rather than God's plan, I could have missed a divine encounter. The "window seat" man could have missed a divine encounter. Are you experiencing divine encounters in your life
these days? Or are you hurrying past them, too busy to realize that they are there?
Our JESUS Film teams have the potential for thousands of divine encounters. They don't want to miss them. If we don't support our JESUS Film teams in ministry around the globe, these divine encounters will be missed. It's about the salvation of souls. Every day, hour and minute counts.
