Yesterday my good friend, Brett Walter, from Grapevine, Texas, shared this moment of his life which spoke volumes to me . . .

"This reminds me of my youth, when I walked onto the University of Northern Iowa?s football team. I walked on as a wide receiver and I immediately did very well. The problem was that they already had a slew of very good players at my position. Ahead of me was a guy being recruited by the Dallas Cowboys, another guy was a High School All-American, and then there were at least 3 other very good scholarship players at this position.

Because of this I was put on the scout team to run plays against the first team defense to get them
ready for the game each week. Another thing I started doing in practice, kind of by accident, was to catch punts for our punter. The first string-punt returner and myself would catch his punts during practice sessions.

So here we are now, mid-way through the season, fighting for a playoff birth. It seems the score is close, and it is late in the game. I am hanging out with my buddies on the sideline, goofing around, not planning on going in the game. And then it happened. Our first team punt returner became injured and the opposing team was preparing to punt to us. The coach came looking for me!

He found me, totally unprepared mentally or emotionally to go in. I was busy having fun, talking it up with my buddies on the sideline.

He grabbed me, pulled me in close and looked into my eyes to see if I was ready to go in. I wasn?t! Instead of looking back into his eyes and saying, ?I?m ready, Coach,? I looked down. And that was it! He knew I wasn?t ready so he found someone else and sent them in the game instead of me.

It wasn?t because I wasn?t ready physically, I was! I wasn?t ready because I wasn?t ready mentally or emotionally. I hadn?t been waiting expectantly! I hadn?t kept watch and I wasn?t ready to go in when my time came! I missed the opportunity! Not only for that game, but that was my last chance ever as the next spring some things happened that caused me to decide not to go out again the following year. So I missed the one chance I ever had to play a down of college football because I was not ready! I can never have that back! The opportunity was lost forever!"

My challenge today is--can you look our Heavenly Coach, Jesus, in the eyes at this moment or are you looking down? If you?re engaged with Him and not playing around on the sidelines, you are always ready for the punt; however, if you have to look down---something is not right.

Last year at a fund raising dinner for Jesus Film, a gentleman said, ?I originally pledged $1,000; however, God was telling me to give $400,000.? In obedience, he changed his pledge.

Thank you for being a part of this ministry. We can honestly say that we are not standing on the sidelines and playing around. We can look our Heavenly Coach, Jesus, in the eyes and say, "I'm ready, Coach!"

Telling others about Him in 120 countries with 374 teams with someone accepting Jesus as Savior every 42 seconds, makes us ready to do more and more. Remember, for every $3.00 donated, based on our thirteen year history, one person invites Jesus to live in his heart.
