You give hope to the suicidal

“The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy.
I came that they may have life and have it abundantly.”

John 10:10

Suicide is undeniably a difficult topic. I've asked Joy Forney, a JFHP staff member, to share her testimony on how God has worked in her life through JFHP to help her feel more encouraged and hopeful than ever before, even after experiencing a difficult loss.

You are loved.

Dear Friends & Partners,

It was my first day of my senior year of college. I was filled with excitement....

But then I received a phone call from my dad that shattered me.

I sobbed uncontrollably as my suitemates surrounded me, sharing in my grief. I didn't lose my mom to the bottle of pills that day, I lost her to mental illness.

I lost her to mental illness in a broken world.

Five years later, the world feels more broken than it ever has...and yet, I am more hopeful and encouraged than ever before.

Working for JESUS Film Harvest Partners, I read stories of incredible transformation—stories about people who overcome brokenness to proclaim faith and hope. Jesus speaks to the lost on the screen and in their hearts—providing hope to so many in their hardest days, including me. Here are excerpts of some that have grown my faith:

"As I watched the film, I suddenly met someone who could ease my pain and give me back the joy of living." - Walda, Brazil

"...From that day on, God has been my husband, my father, my friend, my everything." -Andrea, Ecuador

"In the past, I was spiteful, full of hatred, and jealousy. I visited fetishes and wanted to hurt others. However, today I declare, all this is history with Jesus." - Dassakaté, Niger

"I have put on the clean clothes of humility and patience." - Khakam, South Asia

These words from fellow believers encourage me in my grieving. The depth of faith these new believers have after making a decision for Christ both holds me accountable to my own faith and reminds me of the magnitude of God. He is continually writing more names in the Book of Lifeworking in ways beyond what we can imagine.

These stories are not just stories. They are transformed lives. They are hope. They are second chances. They are abundant life.

I have also had the privilege of meeting some of the JESUS Film team members. They are truly passionate about reaching more people for Jesus. They meet people where they are and not only show them the JESUS film, but explain the Good News of Jesus Christ — who overcame all darkness. I appreciate your prayerful consideration of how you can support these teams today.

Thank you for letting me share some of my story with you, and thank you for helping us continue what Jesus started.

In Christ,

“I will recount the steadfast love of the LORD, the praises of the LORD,

Dear Friends & Partners,

“This film has been one of the most effective tools in the history of Christendom.” – Dr. John C. Maxwell

Maxwell said this of the JESUS film just four years after JESUS Film Harvest Partners’ (JFHP) beginning. His words ring especially true today as we celebrate 20 years and over 15 million decisions for Christ.

The past 20 years are a result of the miracle of God’s work. We have been surrounded by His faithfulness, faithful Harvest Partners, and faithful teams. Read this encouraging testimony from the beginning days of the ministry:

“A member of the Ecuador team found a village where there were no churches and where people had never heard of Jesus. The team hired a bus to take them to this remote village. However, on the way, it blew two tires in the middle of a downpour.

As the bus came to a stop, it burst into flames. The team members jumped out of the bus with the equipment and stood under trees to escape the blaze. At that moment, lightning struck a power pole nearby the team and another bolt struck a tree. By God’s grace, no one was hurt.

After all of this, the team carried the heavy equipment up the mountain in the rain. They held the equipment above them as they crossed a waist-deep river. The weary team finally arrived at the village and the rain stopped. They showed the film to 600 people, and 218 people accepted Christ. Church leaders are now planting a Preaching Point here.”

The fervor of JESUS Film teams never ceases to amaze me. There are many lonely, lost, and hurting people who need to hear the Good News—no matter the risk.

equipment

The equipment the Ecuador team carried up the mountain weighed over 200 pounds. Today, one team member can carry a set of solar-powered equipment on their back—Praise God for how far we’ve come! We don’t know what the next 20 years look like, but with the help of Harvest Partners like you, we can be poised for whatever doors God opens.

To commemorate JFHP’s 20th anniversary, would you prayerfully consider giving a $20 gift today, or a gift in increments of $20?

As we celebrate the past and look to the future—you get the thanks—God gets the glory!

You are loved.

You open doors to miracles: dreams & visions

“But there is a God in heaven who reveals mysteries.”

Daniel 2:28a (NIV)

Dear Friends & Partners,

The Bible is filled with stories of people receiving glimpses of God’s glory—from Daniel in the lion’s den to Saul on the road to Damascus. These miraculous moments may seem so long ago, but they are still happening today! Read Mamie’s amazing testimony from Sierra Leone:

“In my former way of life, I was the head of a female mutilation cult in this village. Everyone knows me well, and many fear me, especially the mothers and young girls. My name is Mamie, but I am known as Mammy Queen.

For quite some time now, I’ve dreamed about a man with white clothes who appears to me and tells me to follow him. I did not understand the meaning. The JESUS Film team came to our village, and I had the dream again. The man told me to go to watch the film and I would understand what he has been telling me. I watched the film all four days and had not told anyone of my dreams.

I came to understand the man in my dream is Jesus. He died for me and wants me to follow and serve Him! I struggled with this idea because I was thinking about my past lifestyle and what people will say, having known me for all of these years. By the third night, I had a very strong conviction that God wanted me to do this. I spent the whole night weeping—asking the Lord to forgive me for all my sins. As soon as the pastor made the altar call the next night, I stepped forward and accepted Jesus as my Lord and Savior.

My conversion has been the talk of the village. Some people have stopped by my house to see if this news is true. I gladly tell them yes! I know the other leaders of the society and even the villagers will try to pressure me to return back to them.

However, my mind is made up. I want to serve the Lord and not our village traditions. I served the devil, but now I serve God. I plan to open my home for fellowship. I long to grow in the things of God and never turn back. From today on, I no longer want people to call me Mammy Queen. I want everyone to know I am a new person!"

When you pray, give, and go, you open doors to miracles of dreams and visions in Sierra Leone and around the world. Mamie’s eyes were blind to her sin until Jesus revealed His glory to her through a series of dreams! The JESUS film allowed her to clearly see the Way, the Truth, and the Life. Praise God—she is now testifying to others about her incredible transformation!

Thank you for supporting the 608 JESUS Film teams. Each gift allows teams to reach more people for Christ as they evangelize, disciple, and plant Preaching Points. May God bless you!

You are loved.

You open doors to miracles: healing

Pulse Banner

“You are the God who performs miracles; you display your power among the peoples.”
Psalm 77:14 (NIV)

Dear Friends & Partners,

We have a wonder-working God! The God of the universe set the world on its axis, creating everything from nothing.

This same God is willing to work miracles for you. It is a testament to His incredible, sacrificial, and earth-moving love. Those who believe gain an all-powerful Father who calls them His own.

Read the miraculous story of Sunil in India, a man who was healed and adopted into God’s family:

“I belong to a family that worshiped many gods. I used to worry about my life because I never felt peace or rest. I was a very sick man. Whatever I earned went towards my health treatment.

One day, the JESUS Film team came to my village and shared how Jesus Christ will heal the sick. They explained how Jesus Christ is God. He gives you peace and takes your burdens if you believe in Him. I believed in Him and was healed!

Now I am a follower of Jesus Christ. I used to spend time worshiping idols, but now I worship my God! Praise the Lord.”

There are still so many who do not know the life-changing love of God that Sunil now knows. They have yet to know the healing which can only be found in His care. However, JESUS Film teams are working tirelessly to make sure they find it.

Be encouraged today — your support and prayers are opening doors to miracles of healing, growing the family of God as new brothers and sisters are adopted into His family!

You are loved.

You care for widows

Pulse Banner

“The Lord watches over the sojourners; he upholds the widow and the fatherless.”
Psalm 146:9a (ESV)

Dear Friends & Partners,

Hanging on a cross, a thief found salvation. On a shame-filled walk to a well, an adulterous woman found new life. These familiar stories of the gospel resonate with us because they remind us of our own stories of redemption. Add to this list of redeemed the story of Agatha, a widow who in her darkest of times had a divine appointment with God.

Agatha, a 62-year-old widow, works as a babysitter in El Salvador. One day, she was caught shoplifting, though this was her only run-in with the law. It resulted in an imprisonment for three days. While she waited for the judge, she was assigned an officer. This officer was also a JESUS Film team member! He shared the gospel with her, and she agreed to attend a Preaching Point service with him if she was freed.

The judge did free her! The best part of her testimony happened next:

“She came to the next church service. She came forward, opened her heart to Christ, and made the decision to accept Him. Her iniquities were erased and she repented with her whole heart. She went back to work. Now she faithfully attends services. Hallelujah!”

Many people would call Agatha’s story a chance encounter, but this JESUS Film team member knows it was the providence of God. The Psalmist penned the words “The Lord watches over the sojourners, he upholds the widow and the fatherless,” thousands of years ago. God continues to care for widows in the most extraordinary of ways.

Know when you pray, give, and go, you are a part of helping care for widows around the world.

When you pray, when you give, when you go, you do so much more—you strengthen a weary world!

You are loved.
